Making the Flanimals

Working with a basic wire skeleton for support, sculptor Joni Higgins of Model Creation 'blocked out' each figure in modelling wax, as shown, then carefully shaped it to bring the character to life. Each wax model was then immersed for 12 hours in liquid silicon, which solidified to produce a mould. From this, a resin model was created, cleaned to remove any blemishes and painted to provide a final 'master' model for the manufacturer to work with.

The biggest challenge? Probably getting Honk to balance on his nose - but we got there in the end!
